Financial Aid & Scholarships

The Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion offers generous financial assistance to students with demonstrated need as determined by the HUC-JIR office of Financial Aid.

More than 80% of our student population receive this generous assistance throughout their years of study. In addition to our tuition scholarships, which covers over 50% tuition coverage, there are also opportunities to receive full scholarships and in some cases addition stipends through our various in house scholarship programs starting in your second year of studies.

Financial aid comes in two forms: tuition scholarship grants from the College-Institute and access to Federal Stafford Loans.

Applying for Financial Aid:

To apply for an HUC-JIR tuition scholarship you must fill out a FAFSA for the award year you are attending by going to fafsa.ed.gov and use our school code: G04054. Please wait and fill out your FAFSA after January 1st of the year you are planning to attend. International Students must fill out the CSS Profile in lieu of the FAFSA found at https://profileonline.collegeboard.com.

Outside Scholarships:

In addition to our HUC-JIR Scholarship Programs there are many additional outside scholarships which students may also receive by applying directly to the organization. To help you with this research we provide an outside scholarship list which includes basic information about the scholarship as well as the deadline and contact information for you to apply.

Net Price Calculator:
