We highly recommend that people interview on campus (Los Angeles). The visit is a meaningful part of the process and enables us to better get to know the candidate for the purposes of placement.
Preparation for the interview
To begin the interview, you will be asked to teach the committee about a Jewish text that holds meaning for you. Please plan a five-minute teaching to share. Feel free to use this as an opportunity to share your particular interests, expertise and talents. There is no prescribed format for this teaching; we invite you to bring your authentic self to the task. If you wish to share materials or resources with the committee please bring enough for five committee members.
Much like a typical interview, the committee will then ask you some common questions as well as questions inspired by your unique application materials and teaching.
