The New York School of Education is a center of innovation for Jewish life and learning. Together, our students and faculty create a community that offers a meaningful and powerful Jewish educational experience. Our programs provide the field’s most rigorous course of study into Jewish traditions combined with an emphasis on individual exploration. As a student at the New York School of Education, you will become a catalyst of transformation in the creation of vibrant Jewish learning for learners around the world. You will join a learning community dedicated to developing Jewish educational leaders who will transmit the sustaining values, responsibilities, and texts of our tradition and apply them to contemporary life.
We apply the open and pluralistic spirit of the Reform Movement to the study of the great issues of Jewish life and thought and advance the critical study of Jewish education and related disciplines in accordance with the highest standards of modern academic scholarship. Our three-year Master’s program sends students first to Jerusalem and then on to New York or Los Angeles where they will build the skills and wisdom they need to be leaders in the vibrant and growing field of Jewish Education.
Our students’ studies culminate in positions on the leading edge of education in Jewish cultural institutions, schools, summer camps and study abroad programs. Our graduates empower their communities to strengthen and celebrate Jewish life and to commit to tikkun Olam – the revered tradition of service to the world.
