Become a Leader in Jewish Education
M.A. in Jewish Education

Question what is. Imagine what can be.

When it comes to building thriving, joyful Jewish communities, educators are leaders. We believe our future leaders will breathe new relevancy into Jewish life and tradition.

At the Rhea Hirsch School of Education, we combine ancient wisdom with up-to-the-moment innovation. We revel in inquiry and experimentation and while we revere the past, we recognize that nothing can remain still, so we always seek to create new ideas for engaging Jews in Jewish learning and living.

Our Master of Arts in Jewish Education students seek creative breakthrough solutions to the challenges we face as a Jewish people and a global society. HUC-JIR is unlike any other school because here your education will uniquely focus on both innovation and tradition. We believe the best solutions for the future will be deeply rooted in an understanding of the past — and a respect for it. That’s why we’ve created the field’s most intellectually rigorous course of study into Jewish tradition and Jewish education.

This includes a year in Israel getting to know the past and present of Jewish cultural life. Our high standards make a degree from HUC-JIR highly prestigious. Our community is a collection of intellectually curious learners who find joy in Jewish life and service to the world. And that community extends well beyond your three years of study. Here you will find your teachers, mentors and collaborators for life.

Our innovations today become the tools of tomorrow’s leaders - catalyzing real change within the larger Jewish community.
