How much does the program cost? The full program costs approximately $20,000, excluding books, travel, etc.

Is there financial aid/scholarship available? You may apply for federal financial aid through student loans. We do not currently offer scholarship support.

Is there Advanced Standing if I have credits or a degree in the mental health field? Because the program is an integrated curriculum and is set up as a cohort, we do not award Advanced Standing. Also, fundamentals of psychodynamic principles and techniques are taught with congregational and chaplaincy settings in mind. 

Will I be eligible for licensing as a counselor upon completion of the Interfaith Doctor of Ministry degree? Please check your state statutes and regulations regarding counselor licensure. HUC-JIR cannot provide the clinical setting for the required supervised training. Please note that this program does not prepare students for any licensure in New York State and that students cannot undertake any activities that are restricted to licensed professionals as part of the program. 

If I currently do not have a workplace that offers opportunities to work with clients, do you have placements for interning? There have been instances when a candidate has identified a site and, with authorization from the Program Director, we have developed an internship.  This can be discussed with the program director in advance of application and admission.
