Mifgash Musicale - Summer Institute for Synagogue Musicians
HUC-JIR Cincinnati, Ohio - July 29- August 2, 2007
Mifgash Musicale, a joint program of the Union for Reform Judaism and Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, is designed for synagogue musicians (singers, accompanists and choir directors) who have some experience leading worship but want to engage in more in-depth study of liturgy and repertoire for Shabbat and the cantillation for chanting Torah and haftarah.
Experts in the field of Jewish music from HUC-JIR, The American Conference of Cantors, the Guild of Temple Musicians and the Union for Reform Judaism will teach classes at the historic Cincinnati campus of HUC-JIR. Students will have the opportunity to participate in master classes and receive individualized coaching from the faculty.
Participants must be affiliated with a Reform Judaism congregation, be sponsored by a member of the clergy from their area, and be members of the Guild of Temple Musicians. Tuition is $600 U.S. currency and includes room, board and materials.

Outreach Fellows Program for Conversion Certification (with the Union and CCAR) - July 25-July 29, 2007
This program certifies lay people to work in partnership with rabbis counseling small groups of prospective Jews on such issues as authenticity, acculturation, and family concerns.
Berit Mila Board of Reform Judaism
A joint project of the CCAR, HUC-JIR, and the Union to create a pool of Reform Mohalim/ot to perform Reform Berit Milah (circumcision ceremony). The Board sponsors courses for medical practitioners in the Jewish ritual to become mohalim/ot and the requisite medical techniques. For more information, visit www.beritmila.org.
