FAQs

How much does the program cost? The full program costs approximately $20,000, excluding books, travel, etc.

Is there financial aid/scholarship available? You may apply for financial aid through student loans. We do not currently offer scholarship support.

Is there Advanced Standing if I have credits or a degree in the mental health field? Because the program is an integrated curriculum and is set up as a cohort, we do not award Advanced Standing. Also, fundamentals of psychodynamic principles and techniques are taught with congregational and chaplaincy settings in mind.

Will I be eligible for licensing as a therapist upon completion of the Interfaith Doctor of Ministry degree? You must check with your own local state statutes and regulations. HUC-JIR cannot provide the clinical setting for the required supervised training but, in some cases, the Doctor of Ministry program transcript has been accepted by regulatory bodies towards fulfilling the academic portion of requirements.

If I currently do not have a workplace that offers opportunities to work with clients, do you have placements for interning? There have been instances when a candidate has identified a site and, with authorization from the Program Director, we have developed an internship.  This can be discussed with the program director in advance of application and admission.
