This new program is in the development and proposal process for a Fall 2020 launch.
The new M.A. in Educational Leadership aims to prepare change-makers and meaning-makers for the field of Jewish education. If you are committed to impacting people’s lives and the world around you while completing meaningful work in your community and curating your own unique contributions to the workplace, we invite you to learn more about the M.A. in Educational Leadership.
The centerpiece of the new M.A. is a two-year paid part-time graduate residency in selected Jewish educational institutions. These institutions will function as living laboratories where you will deepen your professional leadership experience while experimenting with innovative educational design and change management, all with the mentorship and supervision of HUC-JIR’s renowned academic faculty and clinical faculty. HUC-JIR has a long history of partnering with educational institutions committed to launching the careers of our students and guiding them on their paths to success. In these learning laboratories, you will:
You will take education courses and rabbinical school courses that deepen your expertise in Judaic content and Hebrew, as well as new Pedagogy Labs where you will experiment with the methods of teaching different subject areas to various learners.
In addition to the existing dual degree options at HUC-JIR (education and rabbinical/cantorial and/or nonprofit management), there will be two tracks offered in education: a three-year dual degree with a year in Israel and intensive Judaic Studies; and a two-year accelerated option.
We are now accepting applications for the Summer 2019 Year-In-Israel program. Our admissions counselors are eager to speak with you about this exciting new opportunity to work in a residency designed especially for you and pursue graduate studies at the same time.
