Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion is affiliated with the University of Cincinnati, the Greater Cincinnati Consortium of Colleges and Universities, Xavier University, the University of Southern California, Washington University in St. Louis, New York University and the Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies, the University of Pittsburgh, Florida Atlantic University, and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. These associations provide cross-registration privileges, the use of libraries and other facilities, joint course offerings and cooperative degrees.

Rabbinical students at the Los Angeles School have an opportunity to enroll in selected courses at the University of of Judaism, and University of Judiaism students have the same privilage at HUC-JIR in Los Angeles. Students of the New York School also have an opportunity to enroll in selected courses at The General Theological Seminary and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Special interseminary workshops are also offered to all students with The General Theological Seminary, Union Theological Seminary, St. Joseph's Catholic Seminary, St. Vladimir's Orthodox Seminary, and The Jewish Theological Seminary of America.

Day school Leadership through Teaching (DeLeT) fellows can begin their preparation to become Jewish day school teachers at HUC-JIR and complete the requirements for a California State Teaching Credential at Mount Saint Mary's College
