Queer Jews

Queer Jews, edited by David Shneer and Caryn Aviv, is a collection of essays written by Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Jews, exploring, "the conflict between the desire to integrate into established Jewish communities, changing them from within and the comforts of creating and maintaining 'separate' spaces for queer Jews." In this video interview with the editors, David and Caryn talk about the genesis of their book, its uses and goals. This is one of many resources available in the Jeff Herman Virtual Resource Center for Sexual Orientation Issues (VRC) -- a tool to help HUC-JIR students, faculty, administrators, alumni and supporters become more knowledgeable and inclusive of gay and lesbian Jews.
