ANDREW GRANT APPOINTED NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL GIVING
AT HEBREW UNION COLLEGE-JEWISH INSTITUTE OF RELIGION
Rabbi David Ellenson, President of Hebrew Union College-Jewish
Institute of Religion, has announced the appointment of Andrew Grant
as HUC-JIR's National Director of Institutional Giving. As of December
1, 2003, Grant is HUC-JIR's national grants officer, overseeing
operations of HUC-JIR's grants office, identifying sources of funding,
preparing grants and proposals, managing grants that are receive,
and serving as a liaison to funding sources.
Erica Frederick, Vice President of Development of HUC-JIR, stated:
"We are delighted to be welcoming Andrew to the team at HUC-JIR.
His experience in the field will enable the department to succeed
in providing funding throughout the College-Institute."
Grant, who brings more than 25 years of experience to the position,
has had a long and successful history of grant funding and proposal
development within the New York academic, corporate and Jewish communities.
He has held positions directing grants offices at the New York City
Board of Education, Hofstra University, Long Island Jewish Medical
Center, Teachers College Columbia University, Baruch College, The
Jewish Theological Seminary, the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale,
and Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care & Rehabilitation.
Among his previous successes, he helped raise $4 million through
the New York State Department of Health for two grants that would
train medical staff and help combat the nursing shortage. Recently
he was honored with a twenty-year Service Award from Hofstra University
where he continues to teach grants and proposal writing classes
to graduate students. He has authored numerous articles in this
field.
Andrew Grant earned his Ph.D. in Public Administration from New
York University, where he also earned the Master of Urban Planning
and Master of Education degrees. Grant also holds a Bachelor of
Arts in Political Science from Binghamton University. He resides
in Cold Spring Harbor, New York with his wife and daughter.
