Rabbi Sharon Gladstone Appointed Director of the Jeff Herman Virtual Resource
Center
Rabbi Lewis Barth, Dean, HUC-JIR/Los Angeles, announced that Rabbi Sharon Gladstone
has been appointed the new Director of the Jeff Herman Virtual Resource Center.
Rabbi Gladstone was ordained from HUC-JIR Los Angeles in May of 2003. She grew
up in Northern Virginia and attended the University of Virginia where she majored
in Anthropology and Religious Studies.
Sharon spent a year of rabbinic school interning at Congregation Beth Chayim
Chadashim, the first gay synagogue in the world. There she learned myriad lessons
on GLBT issues and on the value of creating inclusive Jewish communities. That
internship inspired her to begin her rabbinic career as the Director of the
Jeff Herman Virtual Resource Center for Sexual Orientation Issues in the Jewish
Community, working toward a Jewish world that is wholly inclusive of all Jews,
especially those who are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender.
The Jeff Herman Virtual Resource Center provides educational support to the
Sexual Orientation Issues in Congregations and Community Initiative.
