Cantor Karen Weber Gilat

Cantor Karen Weber Gilat is the Visiting Cantor at HUC-JIR/Cincinnati for the 2003-2004 academic year.

Cantor Gilat is originally from Hartford, Connecticut and is a graduate of Trinity College (English and Theatre/Dance). She was invested at HUC-JIR's School of Sacred Music, and has served as a cantor in diverse worship settings in the Midwest, South, Northwest and Canada. She has created original scripts and prayer materials, performed movement/theatre pieces in synagogues and interfaith settings and was a contract chaplain in a men's medium security prison.

As Visiting Cantor this year, Karen Weber Gilat will lead several worship services and workshops on campus and will be a cantorial resource for rabbinical students. Cantor Gilat will be available, by appointment, to meet with students for assistance in the area of Jewish music.
