Sally F. Korkin of Cincinnati was inducted
as a member of the Board of Overseers of Hebrew Union College-Jewish
Institute of Religion
Sally F. Korkin was inducted as a member of the Cincinnati Board
of Overseers of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion
on April 27, 2002 during a Shabbat morning service that was held
in conjunction with the Inaugural Meeting of Combined HUC-JIR Boards
of Overseers from Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and New York.
Korkin is a graduate of Walnut Hills High School, Washington University
in St. Louis (B.A., 1968), and University of Cincinnati (M.Ed.,
1970). She has been the Director of Development and Community Relations
at Cedar Village since 1996. From 1978-1992 she was a partner/owner
of Triangle Productions, a special events/entertainment company.
A lifelong, active member of Rockdale Temple, Korkin currently sits
on the board and serves as its secretary. She has been a Big Sister
for Big Brothers/Big Sisters since 1998; is a past chairman and
current member of Promote Wyoming Committee; and has served on the
board of many community organizations.
Korkin is the great granddaughter of Dr. William Rosenau, ordained
from HUC in its sixth graduating class in 1889. She is married to
Gerald Korkin and they are the proud parents of two children, Kerri
Korkin Sonenshine and Suzanne Korkin, and one grandchild, Marguerite
Zion. Daughter Suzanne graduated on May 5, 2002 from HUC-JIR in
Los Angeles with a joint degree in Jewish Communal Service and Social
The Cincinnati Board of Overseers consists of lay members of Reform
Jewish communities throughout the Midwest and South who serve as
representatives and advocates of HUC-JIR in their respective communities.
The members of the Cincinnati Board of Overseers secure and contribute
resources to perpetuate and strengthen the academic and cultural
programs of the College-Institute in general, and the Cincinnati
campus in particular.
