Interreligious Relations in Israel in Light of the Peace Process

Dr. Ron Kronish serves as Director of the Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel (ICCI). He is also a noted rabbi, educator, author and lecturer. While living in Jerusalem during the past 19 years, Dr. Kronish has served as Director of the Israel Office of the American Jewish Committee, Director of Staff Development and later Co-Director for the Melitz Centers for Jewish Zionist Education, and as a lecturer in education at Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Pulitzer Prize Winner Glenn Frenkel will discuss this new book, which tells the harrowing and inspiring account of a handful of white activists, many of them Jewish, who risked their lives to combat apartheid when, in the 1960s, South Africa plunged into an era of darkness from which it has only recently emerged.

HUC-JIR and the Avodah Dance Ensemble present a weekly workshop in which participants explore the weekly Torah Portion through movement. No advance registration required; participants may attend any or all of the series. For more information call JoAnne Tucker at 201-659-7072.


The HUC-JIR Community Soup Kitchen

We provide hot, nutritious meals, a legal clinic, and a caring atmosphere to over 200 of our hungry and needy neighbors each week. Food is prepared and served every Monday by members of our community with help from city volunteers.
