Rabbi Dennis Eisner has been named Assistant Dean of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion's Los Angeles School, announced Dr. Lewis M. Barth, Dean, HUC-JIR Los Angeles School. Rabbi Eisner's appointment is effective July 1, 1999.Rabbi Eisner recently served as the Director of the Junior and High School Programs of the Union of American Hebrew Congregation's (UAHC) National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) program. He also served as Assistant Director of Project Development for the Departments of Program and Synagogue Management of the UAHC. His other appointments include Director of Community Development for the Jewish Community Center on the Upper West Side in New York and Resident Director for Camp Hess Kramer in Malibu, California.
Rabbi Eisner was ordained at the HUC-JIR New York School in 1998 and received his Master of Arts degree in Jewish Communal Service and Master of Arts degree in Hebrew Letters from HUC-JIR Los Angeles School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from San Francisco State University.
"I am very pleased about Rabbi Dennis Eisner becoming Assistant Dean for the Los Angeles School. With Rabbi Richard Levy becoming Director of our School of Rabbinic Studies and Rabbi Eisner as Assistant Dean, we embark on a new phase of development and growth for the HUC-JIR Los Angeles School and for the Reform Movement in the Western United States. Rabbi Eisner's organizational and programmatic experience will only enhance the fine administrative team at the College-Institute," said Dr. Barth.
Other administrative changes announced at the College-Institute's recent graduation include the expansion of Madelyn Mishkin Katz's part-time Director of Student Services position currently to be the new full-time Director of Student Services and External Programs.
