Dr. Rachel Adler has been appointed Assistant Professor of Jewish Religious Thought and Feminist Studies, a joint appointment with the University of Southern California, after serving as Visiting Assistant Professor at both institutions. Dr. Adler received her Ph.D in Religion and Social Ethics from the University of Southern California in 1997. She specializes in Jewish feminist theology and ethics and recently published Engendering Judaism: A New Theology and Ethics.
Dr. Karla Goldman has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of American Jewish History, after serving as Assistant Professor. Her research has focused upon the role of women in American Judaism, the Cincinnati Jewish community and African-American/Jewish relations. Dr. Goldman received her Ph.D. in American History from Harvard University in 1993. Her forthcoming book Beyond the Gallery: Finding a Place for Women in American Judaism will be published by Harvard University Press.
Cantor Benjie Ellen Schiller has been promoted to the rank of Full Professor of Cantorial Arts with tenure. She has been teaching at the College-Institute in the School of Sacred Music since 1987 as Instructor, Adjunct Associate Professor and Associate Professor. She is a composer of contemporary Jewish liturgical music and is also Cantor and Choral Director for Bet Am Shalom Synagogue in White Plains, New York.
