David J. Gilner

Dr. Gilner is Director of Libraries for the four-campus library system of HUC-JIR and Librarian of the Klau Library, Cincinnati. He attended Emory University (Comparative Religion), the University of Illinois (Library and Information Science) and HUC-JIR, Cincinnati, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Biblical and ancient Near Eastern Studies. Dr. Gilner is Editor of the Library’s Bibliographica Judaica monographic series. He is a former President of the Council of Archives and Research Libraries in Jewish Studies and of the Association of Jewish Libraries. He has worked closely with local Christian churches and religious communities to further interfaith understanding and cooperation, and teaches meditation under the aegis of the Foundation for Active Compassion.
