Cantor Dana S. Anesi, the Director of Student Placement for the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music, is a 2010 graduate of HUC-JIR’s Doctor of Ministry program, as well as the DFSSM, in 1980. She is also Cantor Emerita at Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester in Chappaqua, NY, after serving as senior cantor there for 30 years. Cantor Anesi has held a number of positions in the Reform movement: as chair of the Alumni Council of HUC-JIR, the DFSSM Alumni Association, and the Joint Cantorial Placement Commission; and was the 1st of the non-rabbinic alumni to be a member of the Board of Governors of HUC-JIR. Cantor Anesi holds certificates in Crisis Counseling; and in Clinical Education for Pastoral Ministry; is a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors; and sits on the Advisory Board of the New York State chapter of Planned Parenthood’s Concerned Clergy for Choice.
