Cantor Dana S. Anesi, Director of the Fieldwork Program for the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music, is a graduate of HUC-JIR's Doctor of Ministry program, as well as the DFSSM. She also is the cantor at the Temple for Universal Judaism in New York City, after a long career serving Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester in Chappaqua, NY.

Cantor Anesi has held a number of significant positions in the Reform movement: as chair of the Alumni Council of HUC-JIR, the DFSSM Alumni Association, and the Joint Cantorial Placement Commission (which is comprised of representatives from the URJ, HUC-JIR, and the American Conference of Cantors); and was the 1st of the non-rabbinic alumni to be a member of the Board of Governors of HUC-JIR.

Cantor Anesi holds certificates in Crisis Counseling; Clinical Education for Pastoral Ministry-both from HUC-JIR; Trauma and Resilience: Theory and Practice in the Israeli Experience, from the Hebrew University; and Introduction to Complicated Grief Treatment, from the Columbia School of Social Work. She is a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors; and sits on the Advisory Board of the New York State chapter of Planned Parenthood's Concerned Clergy for Choice.

Cantor Anesi also enjoys performing as part of the group Coffeehouse Cantors with treasured and gifted colleagues, including Cantor Faith Steinsnyder and Cantor David Perper.
